Full Job Description
We are currently seeking a Life Sciences Attorney - Pharmaceutical R&D to work within the Life Sciences industry.
Responsibilities:
• Negotiating with sophisticated counterparties
• Providing practical legal advice and support on business matters in a fast-paced environment.
• Working with and advising business clients directly, as well as providing guidance and practical solutions
• Minimum Qualifications:
• 5+ years of legal experience at a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or other life sciences company.
• Experience drafting and negotiating R&D Contracts including master service agreements, consulting and services agreements, licensing, research, collaborations, strategic alliances for development, and clinical.
• Negotiate and draft clinical research agreements with experience drafting and negotiating R&D contracts and advising on clinical, preclinical, regulatory, medical affairs contracting matters strongly preferred
• Broad-based knowledge of laws and regulations governing pharmaceutical activities with a focus on research & development and regulatory areas
• Ability to work remotely.
• Active membership in the state bar which you reside.

You will be a critical team member in Lyra’s legal team assisting the Human Resources department, and working cross-functionally throughout the organization, in the management and handling of all labor and employment related matters. This is a full-time role that can be located in the headquarters in SF Bay Area (Burlingame, California), or remote and will report to Lyra’s Senior Labor and Employment Counsel. You will be expected to work independently in managing questions around a broad scope of labor and employment issues, as well as being responsible for advising stakeholders regarding critical questions around the company’s growth and leading projects to support Lyra’s compliance in employment matters.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced attorney with a proactive nature in identifying issues and presenting solutions and someone who is searching for a collaborative environment brimming with novel questions.
Responsibilities
• Provides in-house legal counsel on employment related matters, which may include, but not be limitunemployment and other state agency claims, employee benefits, employment agreements, handbooks, and ed to, incentive compensation, wage and hour law, worker classification, policy related issues, leaves of absence, reasonable accommodations, workplace investigations, manager training, employment related pre-litigation and litigation matters including administrative charges, background checks, hiring matters, termination matters, severance agreements, reorgs and layoffs, and generally assists the General Counsel and People Operations functions.
• Works closely with the Employee Relations and HR Business Partners functions to support issues that may arise.
• Ensures compliance with all applicable employment laws, regulations and policies.
• Participates in and influences the decision-making process with appropriate clients and stakeholders.
• Identifies and assesses legal risks and opportunities within the employment area and advises accordingly.
• Independently handles legal matters and projects ranging from basic to complex.
• Provide practical and solution focused legal advice and support on business matters in a fast-paced environment
• Recognizes when to elevate certain matters to the attention of the General Counsel.
• Supervises, manages and evaluates outside counsel on employment related matters, including litigation.
• Educates and trains internal stakeholders on legal matters, policies and procedures.
• Establishes and maintains relationships, credibility and trust with clients, stakeholders, legal team members and other colleagues.
• Performs other tasks as assigned from time to time by the General Counsel, Associate General Counsel or Senior Counsel.
Qualifications
• Law degree from an accredited law school and membership in a state bar with good standing
• 3+ years legal experience in-house or at a law firm
• Experience analyzing and advising on labor and employments laws in state and federal level, including California
• Excellent problem-solving capabilities, judgment, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills
• Experience leading projects, including collecting, distilling and summarizing issues from relevant stakeholders and moving projects forward
• Experience working in-house with a technology company and/or health care organization strongly preferred.
• Experience with a global workforce a plus
• Willing and eager to take on new areas of law and function independently in a demanding fast-paced environment

Responsible for providing legal advice to the University, its officers, colleges and academic and administrative departments, under the direction of the Deputy General Counsel and the General Counsel, to ensure compliance with legal requirements and to reduce exposure to legal risks. The position represents the University in judicial and governmental proceedings, educates University personnel about legal issues, serves as a resource on legal aspects of decisions and policies and assists with other legal functions as assigned. 1. Provides legal advice to ensure compliance with legal requirements, protect or advance the University's legal interests and reduce exposure to liabilities and legal risks
• Reviews laws, court opinions, government regulations and legal requirements
